Since the discontinuation of the Grand Wagoneer several decades ago, the Grand Cherokee has been the flagship utility vehicle of the Jeep brand lineup. The midsize crossover was first introduced for the 1993 model year as a successor to the Grand Wagoneer, despite being in a smaller segment. Now kicking off its fifth generation, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to be an outstanding option here in the Highland Lakes TX area. While Jeep has plans to reintroduce to the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer next year, the Grand Cherokee will continue to an outstanding option for shoppers looking in the midsize crossover segment.
The fifth-generation Grand Cherokee was introduced as the Grand Cherokee L, a three-row LWB version of the vehicle. As of now, the two-row version continues much in the same vein as its fourth-generation predecessor, with its redesign likely coming next year. Even still, plenty of updates have come to the Grand Cherokee this year that we’re very excited about.
For example, the Laredo X now features an 8.4” Uconnect infotainment system with navigation, plus remote start, the power liftgate, a vinyl or suede interior cabin, heated front seats and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. A new package is available on the Limited trim level called Sun and Sound, which adds a dual-pane sunroof and a nine-speaker sound system to the vehicle. Additionally, the Laredo now features a set of 18” painted machine cast-aluminum wheels as standard while the Limited X features Gloss Black exterior detailing.
Finally, a new Jeep Grand Cherokee 80th Anniversary Edition was introduced, being built onto the Limited trim level. It adds leather seats that feature light tungsten interior accents, a set of 18” Granite Crystal finish wheels and exterior badging that commemorates the milestone. Other features include the ProTech II Package, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Brake Assist and a set of rain-sensing windshield wipers.
